Sheridan Rúitín is a New York based band formed in 2020 during the pandemic, a true garage band. The group has four members: Billy Houlihan (vocals,banjo, bouzouki, fiddle, bagpipes), Shannon Cokeley (vocals, guitar), Tommy Ma (vocals,bodhrán), Michael Zayas (accordion, mandolin).The band is known for their traditional Irish sound with their unique blend of folk and rock influences. Their music has been described as rooted in tradition and fueled by innovation, weaving a tapestry of ancient musical heritage with contemporary sounds – from lively jigs and reels to poignant ballads and ethereal harmonies.
In March of 2022, Sheridan Rúitín released their debut album, ‘Rebels in the Night’, which received critical acclaim. They have also released a live album and 3 Eps. They now release their own version of the well known song, ‘Tell Me Ma’ and make it their own. Radio DJ Johnny Costello says, “Sheridan Rúitín’s latest single , ‘Tell Me Ma’ , is absolute fire! Being a Radio Host, I’ve heard many versions and this band takes the song to another level - creative, spicy, and brilliant - it’s the best version ever!” Band member Tommy Ma says, "Shannon's voice mixed with Billy's arrangement and production have truly produced a savage track that I'm lucky enough to provide harmonies for. Sheridan Rúitín has several music videos out with over 1,500,000 plays on YouTube, including a new one for this single, and they have performed at several major music festivals, including the East Durham NY Irish Festival, VA Irish Festival, Poconos Irish Festival, the Hooleyon the Hudson, The Havertown Irish Festival, Rockaway Beach Irish Festival. They are currently working on new music with plans to release an album in early 2025.
