Bronte at Victory Gardens Greenhouse Theatre
American Premiere of Polly Teale’s Brontë
Remy Bumppo Theatre Company presents The American Premiere of Polly Teale’s inventive drama Brontë running March 20 through May 4 in the Upstairs Mainstage of the Victory Gardens Greenhouse Theater, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago. This extraordinary play by Polly Teale evokes both the real and fantasy worlds of the Brontës, as the sisters’ austere surroundings give way to the boundless power of imagination.
Curtain times are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:30 pm. There will be Wednesday matinees at 10:30 am on March 26, April 9 and April 23 and at 2:00 pm on April 2 (no evening performance on this date), 16, and 30. Additionally there will be one Saturday matinee on April 5 at 2:30 pm. Ticket prices for the regular run are $35-$40. Carousel at Court Theatre
This Rodgers and Hammerstein masterpiece reinvented musical theatre in its day with its lush score and seamless integration of song, story, and dance. Now the piece Time Magazine named the "best musical of the twentieth century" will soar to new heights in Court's intimate space. Set in a small New England town, the story of an impulsive, brash carnival barker and his bride spans heaven and earth in its exploration of love, human frailty, and redemption.

Carraig Pub Irish Music Session
The Carraig Pub at Gaelic Park, 6119 West 147th Street, Oak Forest, offers specials everyday including sandwiches, ribs, steak, shrimp, bottles and pints.

Thursday evenings, come to the Carraig for the traditional Irish music session given by Pat Finnegan, Sean Cleland and the students of the Irish Music School of Chicago beginning at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.


Dead Man's Cell Phone at Steppenwolf Thtr
Steppenwolf Theatre Company continues its 32nd season with Dead Man’s Cell Phone by Sarah Ruhl, directed by associate artist Jessica Thebus. The production runs March 27-July 27, 2008 in Steppenwolf’s Upstairs Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted St.

Jean is sleepwalking through her life until she answers a dead man’s cell phone. It turns out to be a wake-up call that sends her on a date with the dead man’s brother, a drinking binge with his wife, and a mysterious rendez-vous with his mistress. Not to mention trips to the afterlife and the black market. In this quirky modern adventure, Jean re-connects to her own spirit and learns that life is for the living.

THE DROWSY CHAPERONE tells the story of a modern day musical theater addict known simply as "Man in Chair". To chase his blues away he drops the needle on his favorite LP-the 1928 musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone. From the crackle of his hi-fi, the musical magically bursts to life on-stage telling the tale of a pampered Broadway starlet who wants to give up show business to get married, her producer who sets out to sabotage the nuptials, her chaperone, the debonair groom, the dizzy chorine, the Latin lover and a pair of gangsters who double as pastry chefs. Man in Chair’s love of TheDrowsy Chaperone speaks to anyone who has ever been transported by the theater.
