Spring Has Sprung
I took my mom to see The Quiet Man Tales for Mother’s Day. It was very good. I thought it was very well performed. I liked how it showed true friends stick together, for better or worse. Another part I liked was when the characters were surprised when the Irish National Anthem was played at an event. They sang it proudly. I’ve heard it so many times at my feises, you take it for granted. It was cool to see what the anthem really means to the people who fought for it. It was also cool because my Aunt Erin was friends with one of the writers/producers, and my Aunt Dee knew one of the actors.
Ah! Spring is here at last. A lot of things have happened in a short time. I’ll start with Bev’s. Bev has a hotdog stand at the end of our block. She makes amazingly good hot dogs. It’s never spring until Bev opens. My grandparents came back from Florida. It’s not warm enough for them yet, but maybe soon. I also went horseback riding with friends. The horse’s name was Daisy. She was a very well-trained horse. We got caught in a downpour. It was really fun anyway. It’s also not spring until we go to our first White Sox game. I’ve gone to one game. It was good to be back at the Cell. I had a fun time with my family even though the Sox lost. We were supposed to go to another game and walk on the field before the game, but it was rained out. When my Irish dance teacher reads this (Mike)—White Sox DOMINATE! And of course spring means feis season to me. I have a lot coming up in the next couple of months. I am trying to qualify for Oireachtas (pronounced “Aroktus”). Oireachtas is our dance regionals; it’s where you must qualify for the World Championships. I need to get a first, second, or third in four of my dances in order to qualify. Hopefully, I will do this soon. I promise to keep you posted.
