"Lefty" Screening at The Music Station March 14

Local filmmaker Todd Looby’s, critically-acclaimed feature film LEFTY set in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood, including scenes shot at the 2007 South Side St. Partick’s Day Parade will hold two special screenings to coincide with the would-be day of the cancelled South Side Parade. The screenings will be held on March 14, 2010 at 5pm and 7pm at The Music Station: 1808 W 103rd St. Chicago, IL 60643. The filmmaker and cast in person for audience discussion at both screenings!

Named among the “Top 10 Movies of 2009, through August” by the Chicago Tribune’s metromix, LEFTY, a true Chicago independent film, features some of the city’s – and the South Side’s – best artistic talent. The all-Chicago cast includes iO players (formerly Improv Olympic); Second City alums; and SAG actors and newcomers. LEFTY also features Beverly’s own Thomas Madden, Mike Houlihan, Carrie Norris, Bill Phelan, Bill Boehler, Steve Flemming and a live performance by “Dyed in the Wool.”
It also includes scenes filmed at the 2007 Southside Irish Parade, “Dinger’s” and Mt. Carmel High School.

LEFTY Synopsis:
After thirteen years, wandering artist Danny Malone (THOMAS MADDEN) rushes back home carrying a potentially fatal secret. Meanwhile, his oldest buddy “Fudd” (BILL PHELAN) returns from serving in Iraq with a secret of his own. Both must decide whether to open themselves up to the booze-filled insanity and judgment of the old neighborhood or maintain their silence, going it alone.

Showcasing Chicago’s thriving folk-rock scene, LEFTY includes music from South Side bands such as The Blacks; Healthy White Baby; Leadfoot; Pat Hamilton; Mike Keeley; and Dyed In The Wool as well as music from Brighton, MA; For All The Sweet Children; and The LustKillers
